Parents & grandparents medical
You can claim up to RM 8,000 for medical treatment, care and examination expenses for your parents in YA 2025 — extended to grandparents from YA 2025. Treatment must be in Malaysia by a registered practitioner. In-laws do not qualify.

- Nursing home, day-care and home-care fees for elderly parents
- Medication prescribed by a doctor
What does not qualify
- In-laws (spouse’s parents)
- Supplements not prescribed by a doctor
Good to know
- Treatment must be in Malaysia by a registered medical/dental practitioner.
- There is no "parents must earn below RM 24,000" income test on this relief.
